If your instinct is to find a justification for trained, sworn public 'servants' firing their weapons at children in a residential area, when no criminal conduct was even alleged, search your character, friends. What uncertainty do you fear so much in the world that you have to deny or justify this?

16 year old drivers can not have children in the car. So, there was a violation, but shooting at children is unacceptable without a real cause. Let's see all the facts.

The 1985 case of Tennessee v. Garner says they had no right to fire their weapons at those children.

I am not sure the kids were innocent, but the police have made it a tactic to stand in front of a vehicle to justify shootings!

When the 16 year old driver drives the vehicle at the officer, the officer has to respond. Police say the 16-year-old is charged with reckless driving, aggravated assault on a police officer, driving without a license, possession of a handgun by a minor and a stop sign violation. The 15-year-old is charged with felony obstruction of an officer, removal or attempt to remove a firearm from an officer and possession of a handgun by a minor. Good kids, right.

How is it I live an hour from Waycross and have never heard about this?

Since Libertarians are generally a fair people depending on reason and logic, it seems multiple sources of "news" would be helpful in evaluating the circumstances of this incident that occurred less than 24 hours ago. Accounting for the bias of sources and differing levels of journalistic ability and ethics, it's always a good idea to obtain info from multiple sources if one wants to discuss something intelligently. It also seems awaiting all the facts and a full investigation would be beneficial, lest we pass judgment and assume someone is guilty before being proven innocent (as the officers may have done here). The GBI has made the following statements with less than 24 hours of investigation. "... a second officer who responded to assist approached the teens’ car from the front. GBI said the car drove toward the officer, and he fired multiple times." "GBI said the older teens in the car jumped out while it was still in drive and it came to a stop further up the road." www.news4jax.com/news/georgia/2020/08/08/family-says-waycross-police-officer-fired-shots-at-5-chi... I fear I see folks here who would qualify as an assistant to corrupt Fulton County DA Paul Howard, passing judgement before a full investigation is completed. That said, it seems this area of Georgia has some problems with policing and the local judiciary. Best thing may be to follow the GBI investigation on this and other incidents in Southeast Georgia to identify what appears to be some pretty bad policing and justice, and making sure corrective actions are taken. What's more troubling to me is the instant fear we see here. That's learned behavior, and causes incidents like this to occur. We need to stop teaching fear and teach caution and respect.... To both police and citizens.
