Summary:
This bill seeks to reinforce the 2nd Amendment rights outlined in the U.S. Constitution by eliminating current requirements for firearms licenses, making Georgia a permitless or “Constitutional Carry” state. It also revises language in various other legislation that would require a weapons-carry license, replacing said language with “legally-owned firearm.”
Why This is Important and Recommendations:
As is reflected in section 1.9 of the Libertarian Party platform, “We oppose all laws at any level of government restricting, registering, or monitoring the ownership, manufacture, or transfer of firearms or ammunition.” Therefore, we recommend supporting this bill.
