Libertarians Impact Municipal Elections

Four Libertarians ran for municipal office on November 6, 2007. We came close to within 4 votes of winning one race, and forced runoffs in two others!

Josh Patterson was our candidate in Hampton, one of seven people seeking three City Council positions. In unofficial totals pending a recount, Josh got 15.1% of the vote — only 3 votes behind the person who got the third City Council job.

In Macon, David Corr was a write-in candidate for City Council Ward 2, Post 1. In the unofficial tally pending the count of provisional ballots, David received more than 2600 votes, about 25% of the total cast.

Heather Hibben was our candidate in the Acworth Board Of Aldermen Post 2 race. She got 5.7% of the vote and forced a runoff election. Similarly, Arnie Garrett got 4.3% of the votes for Duluth City Council Post 5 and forced a runoff election.

Our thanks to all our candidates for taking on the work of freedom by standing for office. NOW is the time for YOU to consider running for office in 2008! If not you, who?
