LP DeKalb Statement About Proposed Public Military High School

Statement on behalf of the Libertarian Party of DeKalb opposing the proposed publicly funded Marine High School opening at the Heritage Center this Fall.
To be issued at the DeKalb Board of Education Meeting at Lakeside High School June 1, 2009.

“The Libertarian Party of DeKalb is opposed to this publicly funded military high school. We believe that education should be up to individuals and their family. No one should be forced to contribute to any activity with which they do not agree. If parents are concerned about the discipline of their child, then they may send their child to a privately funded military school, but they do not have a right to force others to contribute. In addition, public education has long been a technique to indoctrinate society, and this publicly funded school marks an ominous start to the militarization of America.”
