The Libertarian Party of Georgia supports Senate Bill 1, the Budget Act, which would require appropriators to review a quarter of the state budget every year to remove waste and ineffective programs.
Daniel Adams, Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Georgia (LPGa), gave the bill high marks. “This is a common sense piece of legislation that must be adopted by the House and signed into law,” Adams said.
This legislation has been introduced in each of the past few sessions but has not passed both chambers by Sine Die, the last day of the legislative sessions — although it came close in 2008.
“From a libertarian perspective, Senate Bill 1 may be the best piece of legislation that comes out of the Georgia General Assembly in 2009,” noted Jason Pye, LPGa’s Legislative Director.
